AGRA: In a chilling reminder of the Badaun incident, two minor sisters aged 14 and 15 were allegedly gang raped in an Etah village on Thursday.
The girls were dragged away while on their way to the market and raped by Rajpal and Sanjay, who are brothers, and Mahipal. The victims and the accused belong to the same village, which comes under Baghwala police station in Etah, police said.
Interestingly, the state government assigned Etah SSP Amit Pathak to the post of SSP, Special Task Force, hours after the incident.
According to the parents of the rape survivors, the accused dragged the younger sister when the girls were on their way to the market around 4pm. The elder girl also got dragged along as she tried to protect her.
On reaching home , the girls told their parents about the incident, following which the parents lodged a complaint at the Baghwala police station.
Police have arrested all three accused and registered a case under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provision of POCSO (Prevention Of Child from Sexual Offences) Act.
ADM, city, Sarvesh Dixit said the rape survivors were referred for medical examination and treatment to Aligarh.
Additional superintendent of police Sanjay Yadav said the police arrested the three men within an hour after the complaint was lodged by the girls' family. He said that a special police force has been deployed in the village to maintain peace. The new SSP, Ajay Kumar Sharma, will take charge soon.
